"Tap" Tapia set the standard for our R&D efforts in the 1960's & '70's. While serving in the USAF, and later for the Boeing Company, he realized that quality eddy current probes were not readily available for needed inspections. In 1979, he founded VM Products, Inc. to fill the void. Tap pioneered the first shielded, the first 1/8" Stainless Steel and the first Flexible Copper eddy current probes for the testing of aircraft structures. He was also one of the first to use an EDM machine to "burn" 0.004" wide notches in materials to simulate flaws.
